In my free ebook, Overlooked Treasure, I talked about Sears Christmas Wish books and how much they were bringing on eBay. But, there are many other type of catalogs that sell well on ebay too.
Just about any catalog published before 1950 that is related to a specific niche market will usually have value. But some “modern day” catalogs can bring big bucks too. Here are 8 types of “modern day” catalogs to be on the lookout for:
- Catalogs of famious designer handbags. Here are some recent examples along with the prices they got:
- Fashion Catalogs from famious designers. (Especially when they feature a certain popular brand or style):
- Lingerie Catalogs. Fredericks of Hollywood and Victoria’s Secret sell well in lots. Certain issues which contain famous models will sell for $20.00 or more by themselves.
- Martha by Mail Catalogs — a lot of 5 of these recently went for $122.51. I bet there are tons of these at yard sales.
- Catalogs featuring expensive items. If there’s a company that sells high end anything their catalog will probably sell well on eBay.
- Catalogs from Sothebys, Christies or other famous auction houses.
- First issue catalogs. For Example, the first Abercrombie & Fitch catalog or the first Nike Catalog.
- Catalogs that Appeal to Collectors — Any catalog in a niche that has collectors will usually also be collectible. For example, train and railroad catalogs, militaria, etc.
Gucci’s La Pelle Guccissima Handbags Catalog — $33.00
Louis Vuitton Le Catalogue — $20.00
Louis Vuitton & Hermes Catalog — $19.99
St. John Neiman Marcus Catalog — $49.99
Gianni Versace Collection Catalog — $50.99
Versace Collezione Uomo Autunno Iverno Catalog — $20.51
1992 Gianni Versace Collection — $50.99 (featured Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell)
Catalogs are a great overlooked treasure because very few people know anything about them or which ones are valuable. You can really profit from this niche if you take some time to study what sells and what doesn’t. Take a look at the variety of catalogs listed on ebay at this link and i think you’ll see the potential:
Happy hunting! And let me now if you find any valuable catalogs to sell on eBay.
